It affects the most intimate part our lives, our sexual encounters and behaviours, our desire and identities. It has an impact upon our language, our imagery, on how we speak of each other.

Through the effects of the public presentation of HIV and AIDS, it has also effected the way we perceive the issues itself blaming, victimizing condemning, denial. It has stimulated fear & anger, disgust and disgrace, where individuals, families, communities, groups, have been blamed, vilified and abused. click here to read full article....

Professional Development Workshops- Introduction to Psychosexual Therapy, Facilitated by Aadil Rasheed
6th (1 pm – 3 pm) and 7th February 2009 (9.30 - 5.00pm)

-Two day workshop provided an introduction to some of the key issues in working therapeutically with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients with psychosexual concerns, and also covered current models of sexual response, the classification of sexual difficulties and a brief review of the literature and then explores some of the implicit assumptions in these hetero-normative models.

Quotes from participants:

The course left me feeling saturated yet hungry for more.
“As an 'introduction' to psychosexual therapy, I felt it worked well in introducing and opening up different ways of working with clients who may introduce issues of difficulty. 'It did what it says on the tin!'!"

“The organisation was very good."

"I liked the blend of presentations, role play and exercises giving us an opportunity to put into practice our learning in a controlled environment."

"The presentation style was informative, relaxed, sensitive and with appropriate humour."

"I found the pictures and films on male anatomy and genitalia helpful. As a heterosexual man I've never seen so many vulvas! The video on explicit sexual practices was also help."

"The course left me feeling more confident with psychosexual therapy, incorporating it more where it is not always obvious and more confident in working with sexual marginalised clients. Thank you very much."
